She has been detained at a police station for more than a month.

Speaking to the Star yesterday, Wanjiku’s father said he does not know what crime she committed.

The family was notified by a friend Wanjiku met in Saudi Arabia, identified only as Mary.

She has also been deported.

Mary said Wanjiku was unwell and asked for money to seek medical attention.

Her employers refused, which prompted her to ask for money to come back to Kenya.

When she insisted, she was taken to the police cells without further explanation.

Mary said Wanjiku is one of the many Kenyans suffering in Saudi Arabia.
