Man ties wife, frogmarches her to police station after domestic quarrel
A man in Kinale village, Lari sub county frogmarched his wife to a police station following a domestic quarrel.
Eliud Kinyanjui, 65, tied his wife, Salome Wambui, 57, with a rope and dragged her to the Lari police station on Saturday.
Neighbours said Kinyanjui returned from church and picked a quarrel with Wambui before he tied her with the rope and frogmarched her some five kilometres to the police station.
“The woman looked tired. We believe the husband struggled to tie her because we suspect she had resisted,” Francis Mbugua, a neighbour said.
The two reportedly boarded a matatu to Nyambare shopping center, about one kilometre to the Lari police station.
Kinyanjui said his wife had become too difficult to manage.
At the police station, Wambui told sub county community policing chairman Peter Kiugu and police boss Peter Ouko that her husband had married another woman.
Kinyanjui said he married a second wife because Wambui had become problematic.
“We quarrelled because my husband has married another wife. We have 10 children and yet he is threatening to start selling our land,” Wambui said.
Kinyanjui denied the claims.
“I have another wife who listens to me but I love my first family and our children and I will never neglect them, but the problem is this woman. She tells lies to in-laws and the church leadership asking them to excommunicate me, and does other things which breach peace at home. I want the police to take action against her,” he said.
The OCS led the parties to his office for interrogation.
