The fundraiser to be steered by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will also be attended by Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko and Head of Cord Secretariat Eliud Owalo among other guests.
“Raila is the club’s patron, the president and his deputy have also pledged their assistance to Gor Mahia in tomorrow’s fundraiser which targets to raise Sh20 million,” Gor Mahia Deputy Secretary Anima Ferrari Oketch told FeverPitch yesterday.
Speaking ahead of the fundraiser, Mr Kidero who is the chief guest said: “Gor Mahia has weathered the storm this season. The fundraiser is to give the team stability ahead of the 2015 season.”
“Supporters who are not able to make it to the fundraiser can channel their funds to Gor Mahia paybill number 350100. Please join us as we show passion for one of Africa’s iconic football teams,” Kidero added.
Oketch said the money raised is intended to cushion the club during pre-season training and purchasing of new players.
Ken Okaka, the CEO of Intouch Media Plus Limited who is a Gor Mahia fan has urged fans to come out in large numbers to support the club that is on the verge of retaining the Kenyan Premier League trophy this Saturday in Kisumu.
Meanwhile, Shanzu United and Mwaembe United have completed the number of the eight teams set to participate in the FKF South Coast provincial league.
The two teams made it to the provincial mini-league after winning their deciders at the weekend.
