I won’t give up war against graft in Nairobi, says Sonko

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko yesterday said he will explore alternative means to fight graft in the Nairobi government.

He said his efforts to fight corruption have been derailed after the county assembly rejected a motion to debate the speech he delivered on February 10.

The motion was tabled in the assembly on Thursday.

Sonko said in the speech he talked about corruption in the county, which he can substantiate because he has evidence.

He said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has been slow in dealing with corruption at City Hall.

“I will not get tired. I will continue to criticise the county government and perform my oversight role. Corruption is at its peak in the Nairobi government and we need to stop it. Nairobians will not develop with the current lawlessness,” he said.

Sonko said “I cannot sit back when services are not provided”.
