Kenyan dishes on the menu for Casper College’s Cultural dinner in Wyoming

(Casper, Wyo.) – Kenyan dishes will be served at the first of two cultural dinners scheduled for the spring 2015 semester at Casper College on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. in Tobin Dining Hall.

The Kenyan cultural dinner will feature spinach and potato soup, spinach salad with a vinaigrette, black bean and corn salad, beef stew, curried chicken, stir-fried cabbage and carrots, coconut rice, lentils and onions, chapattis (flat bread), and mandazi (African doughnuts) and pineapple cake for desert. Items that are gluten free include the soup, both salads, and the stir-fried cabbage and carrots.

In addition, the dinner will feature an after-dinner presentation by University of Wyoming at Casper Assistant Professor Lydiah Nganga.

Tickets for the Kenyan dinner are $13.75 at the door for adults, $8.75 for ages 7 to 12, and free for children 6 and under. Sales tax will be added to all ticket purchases.

Tobin Dining Hall is located in the Casper College Student Union. Those attending the dinner are encouraged to use the parking lots located to the west of the building.

The ethnic dinner series is sponsored by the Casper College Diversity Committee, and is presented by Sodexo Campus Dining. The final cultural dinner for the 2014-2015 school year will feature the foods of Martinique on March 26.
