Kenya: Narok Senator Stephen Ole Ntutu and four MPs snubbed a meeting convened by Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday to iron out leadership row in the county.
Ntutu and the MPs, Moitalel ole Kenta ( Narok North), Patrick Ntutu ( Narok West), Johana Ng’eno (Emurua Dikirr) and Korei ole Lemein ( Narok South) alleged the meeting was meant to shield Governor Samuel Tunai.
Last week, the senator and the four MPs were arrested after being summoned to CID Hqs in Nairobi in connection with Narok demonstrations in which one person was killed.
The residents were protesting over alleged misappropriation of county funds when the protests turned chaotic.
After being grilled for hours by CID, they were detained last week at Muthaiga Police Station before being arraigned in court the next day. Their arrests ignited fresh protests in Narok.
The leaders are facing incitement charges.
