Ugandan driver tries to sink bus with 60 passengers in Kazinga channel
A disgruntled driver deliberately drove on the wrong side of the road before heading towards the channel, where he intended to die with 60 passengers after hijacking a bus at a petrol station
Last week, a former Link bus driver hijacked a Kampala bound bus and tried to sink it in Kazinga channel but police stopped him after blocking the road at Katunguru. According to a passenger (Dinah Mwagale Mudusu), Abdullah Manilangwa reportedly told the 60 passengers on board that they were going to die with him, and advised them to pray to God.
Three people were injured trying to jump out of the bus.
The driver was sacked for indiscipline and a former colleague remembered Manilangwa saying he would make history in Uganda. The Kasese District Police Commander, Bob Kagarura, said: “We have him in our cells and we could charge him with terrorism because he caused a lot of panic among people and many are in hospitals as a result of his indiscipline.”
