EACC raid Zakayo Cheruiyot’s home,MP says raid linked to JAP wars –

EACC officers searched Kuresoi South MP Zakayo Cheruiyot’s home on Thursday morning in a bid to establish how he acquired his property.

Cheruiyot said the search at his Lavington home was in connection to the Anglo Leasing scam in which he is implicated.

He however suspected that the four officers were sent by JAP officials over his hard stance against the Jubilee government.

Addressing journalists at the home on Thursday, he said he let them in after consulting his lawyers.

Cheruiyot noted that the officers, accompanied by two cops with AK 47 rifles, had a search warrant.

He said he furnished them with property ownership documents which they perused and then left.

The former Internal Security PS was charged with abuse of office by arbitrarily approving the procurement of forensic CID equipment.

He was charged alongside former finance Officer John Agili and thirteen others allegedly involved in the Sh56 billion scam.

The suspects include Kisii Senator Chris Obure, former PSs Sammy Kyungu, Joseph Magari and Dave Mwangi, former Finance minister David Mwiraria and David Onyonka.

Others are former Finance secretary Samuel Bundotich, former Postmaster General Francis Chahonyo, former Meteorological Department boss Joseph Mukabana and businessmen Deepak Kamani, his brother Rashm Kamani and his father Chamanlal Kamani.

Mwiraria is yet to appear in court over illness while all the others denied the charges.
