Nyatike MP shot at Karen claims life in danger over PAC scandal
Nyatike MP Omondi Anyanga on Monday claimed that his life is in danger due to the scandal surrounding the Public Accounts Committee.
The lawmaker said there are people after his life and that they are connected to PAC . Anyanga said he found four hooded men in his compound on Saturday night at around 7:30pm.
He urged the Inspector General of police Joseph Boinett to give him extra security. Three of them were armed with AK47 guns while the fourth one had a crude weapon, the MP said. Nyatike claimed that he fought the attackers alone and asked who had sent them.
They allegedly told him that they had been sent to kill him. Anyanga said one of the gunmen hit him on the head with the butt of his gun injuring him and snatched Sh200, 000 thousands from his pockets. He retreated to his car and grabbed a pistol to ward them off.
He was admitted at Agha Khan hospital after the gun drama. He said the gunmen gained entry into his house while his son was in the living room but did not steal anything.
Anyanga however could not elaborate how one person armed with a pistol could scare away gunmen armed with AK47 rifles.
He denied involvement in the PAC graft scandal in which committee members are facing bribery allegations.
“I served in the same committee in the previous parliament under Bonny Khalwale and such allegations never came up,” he said.
He said the allegations against him are aimed at tarnishing his name and diverting attention.
“ People went into a bar to make up a story against me. I am delighted that even Defense PS Mutea Iringo today confirmed that he did not give anyone money,” he added.
