Former Lands minister and current Siaya senator James Orengo has been accused of receiving a bribe to sell off public land in the EACC graft report.

Orengo is accused of allegedly receiving a Sh5 million bribe for the sale of a plot in Nairobi’s Westlands area to former Nairobi mayor George Aladwa.

Lands commissioner Zablon Mabeya is also alleged to have pocketed Sh5 million for his part in the sale of the public land that was valued at Sh320 million.

The plot of land is alleged to be on Ring Road, Westlands next to Apollo Center.

The report states that Orengo further irregularly renewed a land lease for plot number No.I.R 861 in 2008 that he had initially acquired in 1975 which had expired.
