PHOTOS OF THE DAY: Ruto ‘Chilling with the youth in the slums.
He was seen seated by the roadside with the young people, in the popular Eastlands ‘style ya base’, accompanied by musician Charles Njagua popularly known as Jaguar.
At a time when the country is grappling with alcoholism issues that have been affecting young people especially illicit brews, the DP sought to know how the government can engage the youth more so that they can steer away from destructive habits.
“Some of these young people have ditched crime to engage in activities like car wash, welding, car repair and painting that earn them a living. I am pleased that they have organised themselves into groups and are engaging in businesses which help them uplift their livelihoods positively,” said the DP.
He added that through the NYS programme, Uwezo fund, and the 30% procurement to the youth and women, the government is engaging with youth so that they don’t venture into alcoholism, drug abuse and crime.
