The Bomet governor is accused of mismanaging funds by using county resources to buy car wash machines as fire extinguishers and fire fighting equipment
– The governor is facing a stiff challenge in the county with a section of leaders including MPs critical of his running of the county
Bomet’s Governor Issac Ruto is in trouble after being accused by a section of leaders and residents of mismanagement.
The governor is accused of purchasing a car wash machine instead of a proper fire fighting engine.
The revelations came to light after a video was circulated on social media showing one of the vehicles bought responding to a fire at Tenwek High School on Friday, April 1.
But the vehicle instead of having a proper fire extinguisher had a car wash hose and a man operated it to extinguish the fire at the school.
The county government is accused of buying the machines at KSh 15 million each with the truck fitted into them costing KSh 1.2 million.
The real cost of the car wash machine according to sources is KSh 120,000 each which they complain is straight out corruption and misuse of public funds.
