Wetangula’s wife was seen in Ruto’s office? Deputy President William Ruto has accused the Opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) of using him as a punch bag every time they launch an attack on the government.
He adds, not only CORD but sections of society too view him as the easy target to hit when they want to paint Jubilee government in bad light.
The DP said during a Tuesday, June 7 interview with Citizen Television’s Hussein Mohammed that a local newspaper even splashed that Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula’s wife was seen in the DP’s office a day before the couple had squabbles.
Wetangula and his wife Ann Wetangula in February, 2016 accused each other of assault.
Mrs Wetangula was the first to report to Lang’ata Police on February 21 that her husband beat her on the night of February 18 at around 9 pm.
Later on the same day, Mr Wetangula went to Lang’ata Police Station and made a similar report, accusing his wife of assaulting him.
Ruto observes that the newspaper insinuated that the Wetangula’s had a fight as a result of the DP’s orchestration. He vehemently refutes the claims and even confessed he does not know – in person – who Ann Wetangula is.
CORD has time and again christened Ruto a “stumbling block” when the opposition wants to negotiate with the Jubilee government over issues affecting Kenyans such as corruption, loss of faith in the IEBC, insecurity among others.
Ruto admits he is a “hardliner” but says he has no apologies to make because the Jubilee government was elected democratically by the people of Kenya, and so he is not open to discussions with CORD – and says, until the electorate vote in favour of CORD, their opinion should be confined to themselves.
He says that CORD shouldn’t oppose everything done by the Jubilee government, and should in fact offer alternative government by feeling gaps where the government seems to overlook.
And on the anti-IEBC standoff that risks paralyzing economies in different parts of the country, the DP has urged Raila Odinga-led opposition to follow the law in removing the nine IEBC Commissioners from office – and that dialogue between government representatives and opposition representatives is just out of the equation.
