Silver is a colour that represents feminine energy. It is soothing and calming.
That is why I was a little bit startled when I saw this matatu, Wizzy, plying the city centre, South B and South C sporting the colour.
I caught up with one of the crew members, Victor Njuguna, who revealed that souping up the silver matatu cost them an arm and a leg.
“This is pure sliver coat that goes for over Sh700,000. Achieving this look is very expensive, but it is worth it in the long run,” he said, adding that, “We were forced to take it back to the ‘kitchen’ and soup it up. The new look is an attraction to many customers. We are the hot thing in this town now.”
The silver matatu has six CCTV cameras to keep off pickpockets from stealing from passengers.
