VIDEO: Uhuru Reacts After Raila Ignores Invite to Nakuru

uhuru_at_afrahaPresident Uhuru Kenyatta has hit out at the Opposition leaders for snubbing his invite to Afraha stadium where he was leading the 53rd Madaraka Day celebrations.

Kenyatta faulted the CORD leaders for opting to hold parallel Madaraka celebrations stating; “Respect those in leadership, someday you might also be in leadership and you will want to be respected”.

“Let us respect each other as Kenyans and respect the rule of law as provided for in our constitution,” Kenyatta stated.

The Head of State noted that he was not aware why the Opposition failed to honour his invite but acknowledged that the CORD leaders were at liberty to do as they wish.

CORD leader Raila Odinga was expected at Afraha Stadium and a seat had been reserved for him at the front row, on the left side of President Kenyatta.

Seats were also booked for CORD co-principal Moses Wetangula and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi.

The Opposition leaders were invited to Nakuru by President Kenyatta during a State House meeting that hosted South Korean President Park Geun-Hye.

The former Prime Minister, however, did not immediately confirm whether he would join the Head of State in the Nakuru fete.

Meanwhile, President Kenyatta announced that the next public holiday, Mashujaa Day, will be hosted in Machakos County.
