Delhi Police today rescued a Kenyan girl from the clutches of International Human trafficking racket who was brought to the Nation’s capital for prostitution.
The victim Gladys Wambui Mwangi (26), who hails from Kiambu County in Keny, was brought to India by her neighbour Alice Njoki. Police said that Njoki had brought the victim on a false promise of a job as a secretary in China.
However, on arrival in India she was confined and her passport was snatched. According to the police, the victim was asked to join prostitution or she would have to face dire consequences. The victim called her parents in Kenya and also informed the Kenyan Embassy about her plight.
WOMAN TRACED WITH THE HELP OF HER PHONE
On July 17, Federick Ndegwa a political counselor from Kenyan Embassy approached the Delhi Police and informed about the illegal confinement of the woman. Apart from her mobile phone number, the police had no clues about the woman.
The police were able to trace the woman after they put her number on surveillance. She was traced to Rajpur Khurd Extension of Delhi. Following the information the police rescued the woman. The accused Alice Njoki and another person identified as Classidy fled from the spot immediately after the police arrived.
The police has registered a complaint of trafficking, wrongful confinement and attempt to murder against the duo.
