Word of the Day: I want my God back in my life
We arrived at the International Prayer fasting center in Santa Cruz CA, things seemed normal everyone was praying some in small groups and others just individually. It is common in this place to run into a brother or a sister who will ask for a prayer of agreement. On this particular day, a sister approached me as I was walking in the mountain trails praying and she said “can you pray with me?” I answered affirmatively saying sure and followed with a question; what are you believing God for? Her answer was very thought provoking when she said “I want my God back in my life. I do not think He is in me anymore because I know how I feel and act when he is in control. I believe there are many of us praying for revival and want an increased presence of God in our lives. The hunger to have your God back is exciting because your God has been longing to be allowed back into each one of our lives; as many as those of us who were once called upon the name of the Lord. When God spoke to Pharaoh through Moses he told him to say “LET MY PEOPLE GO SO THEY MAY SERVE ME.” God’s people who were called by His name and named by His name were in slavery. God knew that unless he delivered His people from Egypt, they would never serve him. They had no time to serve God in Egypt because they were also surrounded by many other gods. The generation that knew about the promises of God and the mighty works of the Lord were dying and God had to move and rescue his people.
But before God delivered them the bible says “The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.” I believe that in our desperateness and desire to see God move, He is looking for a genuine cry from particular people, from those that have a relationship with Him, from those who call Him their God or who once called Him their God. When a genuine cry from those who have a covenant relationship with Him reaches the ears of God, he sends an answer down.
As God’s children, are we desperate enough for God’s hand to intervene in the world today? It is easy to look for answers from the world’s peace organizations, look for peace through the UN and other political organizations. But none of these will bring true peace. True peace is signed for ever by the one who gave his life at Calvary.
The children of Israel in Egypt had accepted their fate. Some had been accustomed to the hard labor. They enjoyed the bread and what pharaoh had to offer. But there are those who did not enjoy but instead cried to God. Could it be that we are a church generation that has enjoyed sin and refused to repent? Do we have a sense of false righteousness, a righteousness that has been defined by human standards and the preaching of cheap Grace? God knows and understand that as human beings we constantly fall short of his glory and when we do we should turn away from our sinful ways and return back to him. So the issue is not that we fall into sin, the issue is that we fall into sin and we continue to live in sin in that fallen state.
Human standards mixed with religious and denominational teachings make it so hard for us to seek the face of God or repent. I want to encourage you friend that “when the roll in called up yonder” Jesus will not ask you what church, denomination or religion you belonged to. He will ask very individual questions which leads me to believe that our personal relationship to him is very important than anything else. The gifts he has given you, the Godly consciousness bestowed upon every human soul is what will be called upon.
I have never found a loving person, caring and devoted person like our God. He is unchallengeable, He forgives sin, He calls us back to Himself . When we are running away from Him he runs towards us. He is just a good God. God is calling us back to himself and hears the cry of those that genuinely love him. Some of us are saying we want our God back. It may seem like God lost his originality in your life or the God who used to be your God has been pushed aside, and someone else has taken his place. You might not call that person or thing a god but it really is because it took you away from God. Who moved your God? Or who replaced your God? Is it money or relationships? You name what moved or replaced God in your life and ask Him to come back to your life. Ask for His power and fire to be restored to you again. Let him move a fresh in your life and bring that much needed change into your life.
If we rise up in our individual lives as believers and call sin, sin and repent of our personal sins, God will heal us. For our healing and faithfulness, God will heal and forgive the sins of our families, children, the neighbors in our streets, our cities, states, church and the countries we live in. If God has been calling you into repentance, don’t resist Him. It begins by a few of us just repenting and standing in the gap and yet the bible says “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” There is a God movement that need to take place through repentance. Friends, we have a choice to seeking God and we have a promise that He will hear us. I pray you hear me as you read this and respond to God by returning back to Him in repentance. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is near unto them that are of a broken heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit.
Now what next, I urge you to search your heart and ask Him to show you the areas in your life where He has been replaced and ask Him to forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Take a spiritual inventory of where you are in your relationship with Him. It could be that you allowed some modern teachings in the name of enlightenment to sweep over you and confused you to live a lie or possibly caught up in self-justification. Whatever it might be, there is not hurt that God cannot heal, and there is no sin that God cannot forgive. He wants you back more than you want Him. His hands are wide open for you, just trust and have faith in him.
Your life depends on who God is in your life, your family, your city and Nation. Will you humbly take your place and stand and be counted in as one who pledges allegiance to the Lord of Lords, the king of kings, the all-knowing God, the creator of heaven and earth? I would like you to sing this song with me as I conclude this article” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zslyvZeU-IE”
