Nakuru KANU Officials Ask Uhuru to Settle Their Sh212 Million electricity bill

Officials of the Kenya African National Union (KANU) Party have pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in their financial struggles that threaten to make the party bankrupt.

The officials, led by Nakuru party chairman John Ngunjiri, claimed that senior government officials were working to destabilize the independent party adding that only the president can save the party.

Ngunjiri was speaking after the High Court ruled that Kenya Power company be allowed to attach KANU ’s Nakuru building to recover Sh212 Million electricity bill.

The officials claimed that the fact that the Sh100 Million building was hit with a Sh510 Million electricity bill proved that there was a malicious plan, adding that the bill was unrecoverable.

“The move to attach Nakuru KANU building is sinister because it is only worth Sh100 million. This is a plan to see all KANU properties auctioned to make it unstable hence force them into a coalition,” the official stated.

Kenyatta has in the past served as Chairman of KANU before resigning in 2012 to form the now defunct TNA.
