Dr. Jerono P. Rotich , Professor in the Department of Human Performance and Leisure Studies, in the College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University served as one of the invited Keynote Speakers at the just concluded Educational Researches and Publications Associations (ERPA) International Congress on Education that was held in   Budapest/Hungary from   18-21 May , 2017 (https://www.erpacongress.com/sayfa/keynote-invited-speakers).

Professor Rotich spoke on the “Educating Immigrant and refugee students in USA: Challenges and opportunities”.

Her research agenda focuses on Immigrant and Refugee acculturation; Global and International Education; Underserved youth and cultural competence as a viable solution to decreasing health disparities and obesity among diverse minority populations.

The ERPA International Congress brings together researchers and educators in all fields from all over the World.

Prof. Rotich encouraged the congress participants  to be proactive in seeking ways and collaborative solutions to help immigrant and refugee students to navigate the education system in their various countries and institutions.

Prof. Rotich has been invited to serve as a Keynote Speaker or Speaker in numerous functions and events.  Prof. Rotich came to the United States as an Immigrant Student on an FI Visa in 1995 shared some of her experiences as well as those of students she has taught and mentored.

She earned her phd from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, North Carolina; Master of Science in Physical Education from the State University of New York at Brockport, New York; and Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya (along with K-12 physical education teacher certification).

She has been a faculty member at NCAT since 2005 and is one of the Research Fellows at  Center for New North Carolinians at UNCG.

Her  honors  and awards include:
2016 recipient of the Greensboro Community Partnerships Chamber of Commerce, Other Voices Change Agent Award,
 2015 recipient of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors Excellence in Teacher award,
2015 recipient of   the School of Education Senior faculty teaching excellence award,
2014 recipient of the University North Carolina A&T State University Faculty Community Engagement scholarship Award ;
2013 recipient of the National  Phi Epsilon Kappa Honors Society,  Distinguished Advisor Award :
2014 Nominee and Inductee, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at North Carolina A&T State University, Chapter 291; Nominee,
2014 recipient, NCAT Faculty Gala Awards;
2014 recipient, Gottabgaa International Community Empowerment Award, Dallas, Texas; North Carolina Kenyan Chapter,
2012  recipient, Health and Wellness Research and community Service Award;
2014 recipient, and the School of Education,  Advising  Award and many others.
