PHOTOS: President Uhuru Lays Foundation Stone for Africa’s Tallest Skyscraper

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday lay the foundation stone for Pinnacle Tower(previously Hass Tower). The Pinnacle will comprise of two towers, the shorter one primarily housing Hilton Hotel, and the taller one mixing commercial office, luxury apartments and a 3-storey shopping mall.

Standing at 320m, the Pinnacle will be Africa’s tallest skyscraper when complete, standing nearly 100 metres taller than the current tallest building in Africa – Carlton Centre in South Africa.

However, if other proposed buildings in South Africa and Morocco proceed to be built, Pinnacle Tower will only hold that title for few months or years. Actually it might very quickly be relegated to number 4.

President Uhuru cited this development as a sign of the growing tourism industry, calling it a big boost. “Your choice to invest in Kenya is, indeed, a clear vote of confidence in the policy reforms we have been implementing in the recent past to make Kenya attractive and competitive and to reposition our tourism sector,” said the President.

Here are some photos.
