Opposition leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka are expected to leave the country on separate trips to Europe and the US.
Mr Raila is set to travel to London later this week to attend a public forum at the Chatham House, UK, where he is listed as the guest speaker in the event dubbed Kenya’s Next Test; Democracy, Elections and the Rule of Law Research.
“He will be in London for a day and half. He will leave Nairobi on Thursday night to be in London in time for the event that begins in the afternoon,” his adviser Salim Lone told The Standard.
The ODM leader will discuss the Supreme Court ruling that nullified the August 8, presidential election and the reforms the Opposition would like to see ahead of the 26 October election.
And Mr Kalonzo will be jetting out to Hawaii in the US for an unknown number of days.
This comes as fears of the NASA brigade pulling out of the polls intensified with President Uhuru Kenyatta claiming Raila has been looking for excuses to withdraw from the elections.
Move forward
“Kenyans are tired and want to move forward. If you do not want elections, step aside so that the country can move forward,” said the President.
He wondered why Raila had waited until more than Sh12 billion had been spent to organise the election before reaching the reported decision.
Uhuru said he is ready for the election because he is sure that Kenyans will rally behind him as they did in the August 8 election.
“We know that we won the August 8 election fairly and that is why we are ready for the October 26 election,” said the President when he addressed leaders from the coastal counties who gathered at Serani Grounds, Mombasa.
Former Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar formally joined Jubilee on Sunday.
