Division in Nasa? ODM Fails To Approve Raila Swearing in Postponement

This was initially set to take place on the same day Uhuru was sworn in, but was later pushed to Jamhuri Day.

Everything seemed set, and although the venue had not been officially announced, it was becoming clear that Mombasa it would be. Indeed, during the postponement announcement, Nasa thanked the county government of Mombasa for offering and preparing to host the ceremony.

In the press statement read on Sunday evening, Nasa did not give details on what exactly changed their minds, only citing internal consultations.

But there were some signs of divisions within the coalition with ODM members seemingly giving the press conference a wide berth. The statement also lacked a single signature from an ODM member.

Also, ODM director of communication Philip Etale briefly posted on Facebook (and deleted) a statement that was interpreted to mean ODM might have not been on board.
