Building bridges: Babu Owino extends ‘handshake’ to Kibaki’s son
On the spirit of building bridges initiative, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino caused excitement on social media after holding a surprise meeting with Jimmy Kibaki, son to former President Mwai Kibaki.
The youthful MP took to his social media pages to inform his followers of his meeting with Jimmy and Portuguese Ambassador Luissa Fragoso.
Babu said that the meetings were for discussing how to empower his Embakasi East constituents and the country as a whole.
“Today I held a meeting with the Portugal ambassador Luisa Fragoso and Jimmy Kibaki. we discussed on empowering the great people of Embakasi east and Kenya.” He posted.
Weeks ago, the former University of Nairobi student leader ended his beef with President Uhuru Kenyatta and they publicly shook hands to mark their new found unity.
His meeting with Jimmy Kibaki, however, raised mixed feelings among netizens with a faction praising his new way of dong politics while others felt that the former President’s son would not impact much on unifying the country:
