President Mwai Kibaki has nominated Prof Githu Muigai to replace Amos Wako as Attorney General.
A statement from the Presidential Press Service Tuesday said the President had nominated Prof Muigai after consultation with the Prime Minister Hon Raila Odinga for the position of Attorney General.
"His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki after consultation with the Rt. Hon Prime Minister Hon Raila Odinga has nominated Prof Githu Muigai for the position of Attorney General" read the statement.
His name has now been forwarded to the national assembly for approval.
The 50-year-old Muigai is an Associate Professor of Public Law in the School of Law at the University of Nairobi.
He holds LLB and PhD degrees from the University of Nairobi and an LLM degree from Columbia University School of Law.
