Cleveland police have located 18-year-old Harriet Akiluga near the intersection of West 54th Street and Tillman Avenue on the city’s West Side. According to Sergeant Sammy Morris, officers confirmed that Akiluga was safe at the time she was found, and arrangements are now being made to reunite her with her mother.
Akiluga had been reported missing after her mother last saw her on December 8. That afternoon, she was seen leaving John Marshall High School at approximately 4:45 p.m. It was only her second day attending the school.
Originally from Kenya, Akiluga has been in the United States for just one month, making her disappearance especially concerning for her family, who feared for her well-being in an unfamiliar country.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance but confirmed that she is unharmed and will soon be back with her family.
