Normalcy has returned in Kisumu following the declaration of Mr Uhuru Kenyatta as the President-elect.
The usually busy city was a bit subdued on Sunday although businesses had opened. Matatu operators continued with business as usual, as Christians flocked to churches for Sunday prayers.
A spot check by the Nation revealed that Kibuye market was a buzz, with bars and restaurants receiving large numbers of clients.
Residents said they had accepted Mr Odinga’s defeat and decided to move on.
“If I do not work today even though I am feeling gloomy, my children will lack food. Life has to go on,” said Mrs Lucy Akelo, a second-hand clothes seller.
