ICC Rejects Ethiopia, Nigeria Submissions as Friends of Court

The International Criminal Court on Wednesday rejected requests byย Ethiopiaย andย Nigeriaย to be enjoined in the case challenging verdict allowing Kenyaโ€™s Deputy President William Ruto to skip some trial sessions.

Appeals Chamber rejected the request by the two African countries to avoid any unnecessary delay as the stage of the proceedings was at the advanced stage.

The court said application by the two countries were similar to submissions ย by Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea and Uganda.

Judge Herrera Carbuccia on June 18, 2013 had granted Ruto permission to be excused from attending all the trials but Office of the Prosecutor appealed against the decision which the court granted.
