A 29 year old man from Mbita Village, Mbeere South reportedly chopped off his genitals.
The man who is now recuperating at the Embu Provincial general Hospital is said to have suffered from acute psychosis.
Speaking to the press, Embu Medical superintendent Dr Jerad Nderitu said the man locked himself in the house before chopping off his genitals.
Nderitu added that the man was rushed to hospital by his parents who came carrying the genitals with the hope that they would be stitched back.
The hospital administration says doctors had to stop the bleeding but the genitals were damaged severely and could not be stitched back.
The manโs condition is stable.
The man will soon be released from hospital.
