Wetangula takes early lead in Bungoma polls

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 19 – Results from the Bungoma senatorial by-election have started trickling in.

By 6:31pm, 136 polling stations had filed their results with Ford Kenya candidate Moses Wetangula taking the lead with 14,126 votes.

New Ford Kenya candidate Musikari Kombo came second with 8,737 votes while independent candidate David Makali came a distance third with 214 votes.

Labour Party of Kenya candidate Bifwoli Wakoli was trailing in fourth position with 189 votes.

At 6:25pm, 107 polling stations had filed their results and Wetangula was still leading with 10,752 votes.

Kombo came in second with 6,535 votes while independent candidate David Makali came third with 163 votes.

Wakoli was trailing in fourth place with 141 votes.

At 6:19pm, 80 polling stations had reported their results.

Wetangula had garnered 7,618 votes, while Kombo had 5,041 votes followed by Makali’s 120 votes.

Wakoli on the other hand had 107 votes.-capitalfm.co.ke
