Double Olympic champion and celebrated Kenyan steeplechase sensation Ezekiel Kemboi has been charged in an Eldoret Court for child negligence.
Mr Kemboi, who recently bagged the 3, 000 steeplechase during the IAAF Diamond League Opener in Doha, Qatar, is accused by a woman, Terry Sawe, for child upkeep and maintenance.
However, on Friday the Court postponed the much anticipated hearing of the case.
The decision to postpone the case follows an application by the complainant Terry Sawe to amend her plaint which was allowed by consent of both parties before Eldoret Childrenโs court Senior Resident Magistrate Mary Njagi.
Ms Sawe, through her lawyer Jacqueline Kibaru, had sought for more time to amend the plaint before the matter could proceed for full hearing before the court.
She moved to court in October last year to sue Kemboi for allegedly refusing to provide for their two-year old sonโs upkeep and maintenance.
โYour honour, I have been instructed by my client to seek for an application to amend the plaint before the matter can proceed for hearing,โ Kabiru argued.
However, the double Olympic champion who was not present in the crowded court was represented by his lawyer Henry Kenei.
The magistrate ruled that the complainant amend her pleading within seven days before the date of hearing of the case is taken.
