The National Museum of African Art has celebrated Kenya in a variety of ways, including:
  • Community Day
In 2018, the museum celebrated Swahili arts and culture with a Community Day that included special performances, fashion, crafts, song, dance, and more.ย The exhibition featured over 160 artworks from public and private collections, including objects loaned from the National Museums of Kenya.

  • Africa Underground
In 2014, the museum celebrated Kenya with a cultural evening of food, music, and dance from Kenya and its diaspora.

  • To Revolutionary Type Love
The museum celebrated the work of the late Kenyan artist-activist and curator Kawira Mwirichia, who documented and celebrated queer love.ย The collection includes a series of kangas, traditional East African textiles fused with Swahili statements.

  • Holiday Marketplace
In 2024, the museum will host a Holiday Marketplace featuring artisans from the African diaspora.
