Kenya:ย The National Intelligence Service Director Michael Gichangi has resigned on personal reasons, President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced.
The much-decorated Major-General Gichangi was appointed to head Kenyaโs intelligence gathering in 2006 for a five-year term. His term in office was renewed in 2011.
โGichangi had a distinguished and colourful career spanning four decades in Kenyaโs defence forces, where he rose through the ranks to Major-General. He has played his role as Director-General of NIS with commitment, dedication and professionalism, for which our country is grateful,โ the President said inaย statement sent to newsrooms Thursday night.
The President thanked Gichangi for his distinguished service to the country and asked him to remain in his role until a replacement is nominated.
The Head of State also announced a reshuffle of eight Principal Secretaries which he said, is geared towards enhancing service delivery. Those moved are:
