On Sunday, Nairobi motorists using Thika Road were left stranded at Ngara due to road closure. Though the highway authority had advertised the closure, it appears not many got the message, evidenced by the crazy traffic jam.
The purpose of the closure was due to movie filming… Yeah, Hollywood was in town.
American streaming website Netflix, they of popular series ‘House of Cards’, were shooting their upcoming original series ‘Sense8′.
Set to be released next year, Sense8 is a science fiction drama series created, co-written and co-directed by The Matrix trilogy creators Andy and Lana Wachowski.
Sense8 will tell the story of eight strangers from different cultures and parts of the world who share a violent psychic vision and suddenly find themselves telepathically connected. A mysterious and powerful man named Jonas will try to bring the eight together, while another stranger called Mr. Whispers will attempt to assassinate them. Each episode will heavily feature one character and their story. (wikipedia)
Netflix announced in March last year that they had ordered 10 episodes for the first season.
Production started in June this year, in San Francisco. Filming locations are in the UK, Germany, South Korea, Iceland, Mexico and Kenya. The crew is currently in Kenya, having filmed in the northern part last week. They’ve also filmed in Kibera and at KICC rooftop.
Kenyan actor Peter King Mwania and film director Biko Nyongesa is part of the cast in this big budget production.
