A human rights lobby wants ambassadors of Kenya to Middle East countries to address immigrant workers’ issues.
This follows increased cases of violence and harassment of Kenyans in the Gulf states.
Haki Africa executive director Hussein Khalid met Kenyan ambassador to Oman, Sheikh Mohammed Dor, on Saturday and asked the embassies concerned to take action.
In a letter written to Dor, Khalid said the group receives many cases of workers complaining of rights violations. “We request your support in addressing the issues of migrant workers.
We believe to resolve and address these complaints, we have to work with state agencies, including ambassadors,” reads part of the letter to Dor.
