President Uhuru Kenyatta will Friday visit Ukambani in what is seen as a move to take advantage of the fallout in former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyokaโs Wiper Party.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua confirmed that Mr Kenyatta would tour Machakos and Kitui counties โto support development in our regionโ.
โHe will hold town hall meetings with leaders and wananchi from the two counties to discuss development matters.
“We welcome him to this region because his government has been supporting development projects in this region,โ Dr Mutua told the Nation.
Sources close to State House, who sought anonymity because they are not allowed to speak for the presidency, said the Head of State would address a public rally at the Machakos Peopleโs Park on Friday and inspect projects initiated by the national and county governments.
From Machakos, Mr Kenyatta will head to Kitui County on a similar mission.
The visit, the sources revealed, is being coordinated by Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu, Dr Mutua and the Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.
Mr Kenyattaโs visit is coming barely three weeks after three governors from the region threatened to ditch the Wiper Party.
