Police officers attached to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi on Sunday shot dead a suspected gangster and seized a pistol.
The two constables were driving one of the Speakerโs official cars along Westlands Road in Nairobi County when they saw three armed men on a motorcycle robbing a pedestrian.
The policemen stopped and shot at the thugs, killing one while the other two escaped.
One of the suspects shot at the officers while fleeing and shattered the rear windscreen of the Speakerโs car.
They found an Ekol P29 pistol loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
The Mercedes Benz registration number GK A133R was later driven to Parklands Police Station
Meanwhile, a constable attached to Industrial Area Police Station was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of being involved in crime in the Langโata and Karen areas in Nairobi County.
The constable was arrested while driving alone in a car hired from a local firm.
Makadara CID boss Zack Nangulu said police were yet to complete investigations.
โHe was arrested by officers from Langโata, but we are yet to conclude the investigations. So far, we have not found any tangible evidence linking him to the alleged offences,โ he said.
