An investigative piece on Aljazeeraโ€™s People and Powerย has detailed how international football frauds bribe players, referees and national federation officials to rig international qualifiers matches for money.

In the piece shown on February 19th, up to 3 Harambee Stars players were offered close to $100,000 to loose the match to Nigeria so that the West African nation would qualify for the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The names and faces of the players who met the Singaporean behind the deal at Safari Park in November 2009, are blacked out but it will not take time before the names and details of the scam is fully revealed to the Kenyan public.

The man behind the whole deal is mentioned as Wilson Raj Perumal who became a key suspect and later witness in FIFAโ€™s clampdown on football corruption. He has spent a considerable amount of time in jail for his illegal football dealings.

In the piece, Perumal is said to have bribed key Mozambiquean officials and players up to $100,000 to beat Tunisia in the qualifying match so as to guarantee Nigeria a place in the 2010 World Cup. The Nigerian contact in the deal was one Prince Odira.
