Four suspected terrorists have been arrested in Mombasa following a police search for a vehicle over terror-related activities in the county.
Anti-Terrorism Police Unit officers arrested the suspects, including a woman, at City Mall, Nyali on Friday and detained their vehicle.
Kisauni DCIO Joseph Kioko said their mission is yet to be established but that they are being interrogated and profiled.
He said the police had been searching for the vehicle for almost a week.
This comes after security was beefed up in the county following the Garissa University attack that took place a day before the Easter weekend.
County commissioner Nelson Marwa earlier said no intelligence reports of planned attacks have been received but adequate measures have been taken.
“The security agencies deployed across the county and its environs will be carrying out patrol activities with special emphasis on key installations,” he told the press at his office on Thursday.
Marwa said more police officers have been deployed to Moi International Airport, the Likoni crossing channel and government and learning institutions.
“We have invested heavily to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy their holiday without fear or intimidation,” he said.
