NAIROBI, Kenya Jul 13 – Four TNA MPs have given the Ministry of Lands and the National Land Commission a 14-day ultimatum to revoke title deeds to three parcel of land in Kisumu, Bondo and Yatta they claim were irregularly allocated to CORD leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Led by Nominated MP and TNA Chairman Johnson Sakaja the MPs said NLC must investigate how the National Youth Service land in Yatta, a parcel of land belonging to Ramogi Institute in Kisumu and the Kenya Airports Authority in Bondo were allocated to the duo.
“These people have now fashioned themselves to be the high priests in the fight against corruption… really it is clear they have been pointing with one finger and four other fingers have been pointing back at them and so we want them to come clean and explain this.”
He was joined by MPs Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti South), Ndung’u Gethenji (Tetu) and Samuel Gichigi (Kipipiri) who said the CORD leaders must be held to account.
“We want the CORD leadership to stop forthwith from meddling and interfering in the fight against corruption that is led by the Jubilee Coalition and the President himself,” Waweru said.
Gichigi added; “If there is anyone who is supposed to benefit from the land in the Yatta, it’s the poor people of the region not the political bigwigs. We have a lot of friends who can use that land instead of loitering looking for casual jobs in the Industrial Area in Nairobi.”
At the same time, Sakaja dismissed statements by suspended Lands CS Charity Ngilu where she claimed that the Yatta NYS land had been procedurally allocated to former Vice President Musyoka.
“She is suspended! As far as we know that is her personal opinion. I don’t know if when she was suspended she went with some files home so that she can refer and say that.
“We want to hear the official position… there is somebody acting in that office, so we should be able to differentiate between personal opinion that has been influenced by certain factors. No one including the recipients of that land have even disputed its presence in the Ndung’u Land Report,” said the TNA chairman.
