Jubilee leaders have termed Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter a “mole being used by Cord” for filing a motion to impeach Devolution CS Anne Waiguru.
Led by National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale, the leaders claimed Cord is using the URP MP to divert attention from Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s claims on the ICC.
Kuria implicated Cord leader Raila Odinga, Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua and Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o in allegations of procuring false ICC witnesses to frame DP William Ruto.
Duale said; “Keter does not in anyway represent the file and rank of Jubilee over Waiguru. He represents the Opposition.”
He spoke during a press conference at Parliament buildings on Thursday, accompanied by 40 Jubilee leaders.
The Garissa MP reiterated that they support Kuria and renewed calls for those implicated to record statements as directed by the DPP.
Raila refused to record a statement saying he does “not intend to indulge the idle curiosity of investigative agencies”, and adding that Kuria should be charged for his confession.
Duale further said Cord’s motion to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta will “neither succeed nor see the light of the day”.
“Cord does not have the numbers to sustain it’s motion of no confidence in the President. It will not even get to the floor,” he said, adding that it will be turned into a vote of confidence.
“Impeaching Uhuru is never a birthday party,” he added, saying the President’s track record cannot be compared to those of leaders in previous administrations.
Duale said Jubilee will approach the motions to impeach Uhuru and Waiguru like it did the one to remove Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi.
Speaking separately in Parliament, Keter said the motion to impeach Waiguru is ready, and that enough signatures have been collected.
“No blackmail will stop us. I want to inform Kenyans that I am not a coward,” he said.
“Those defending Waiguru on the [Sh791 million] NYS saga have also had their share. What they are now doing are side shows.”
