BEIRUT: A Kenyan maid allegedly stole LL19,500,000 ($13,000) from a safety deposit box in her employers’ northeast Sidon home, a security source told The Daily Star Friday.

The maid reportedly used heavy cutting equipment to break into the safety deposit box late Thursday inside the house when her employers, Ousama Al-Batesh, his wife and children, were not at the house in the neighborhood of Sharhabil.

She also took back her passport and residency permit.

The maid had been working at the house of her employer for the past four months.
