Saturday, 20 February 2016 – Standard Group journalist, Mwaniki Munuhe, who is alleged to have received a Ksh 10 million bribe from former Cabinet Secretary, Ann Waiguru, has been suspended.
Mwaniki, who is an editor on the weekend editions, was mentioned in the explosive affidavit by businesswoman Josephine Kabura as one of the beneficiaries of Waiguru’s corrupt deals.
Josephine claims that Mwaniki received Ksh 10 million as a bribe to help the corrupt Cabinet Minister with “propaganda and PR work.”
On Thursday, Mwaniki received a letter suspending him to pave way for investigations over the bribery allegations.
A source at the Standard intimated that editorial managers are combing through past coverage of Ms Waiguru in the Standard, with keen interest in reviewing articles used in the Sunday and Saturday Standard, where Munuhe works.
However, Mwaniki has already set himself up after be bought two top of the range cars and his lifestyle has changed drastically in the last few months.
He owns a black Mercedes Benz and recently bought a Landcruiser VX that has left tongues wagging at the Standard Group.
He has also been making it rain in city clubs where broke journalists frequent and sleeping around with high end pr@st!tut3s, leaving his close friends with more questions than answers.
