It took the intervention of the police to stop the protests and send the students home.

In the last year’s KCSE exams, the school recorded a mean grade of 7.4 compared to that of 7.5 in 2014.

The drop in performance in the school is a reflective of the general performance of the 2015 class with Education Cabinet Secretary DR. Fred Matiang’i saying that only a third of the students who sat for the national exam last year attained university entry qualifications.

Matiang’i further noted that only 2,636 students got plain A’s compared to 3,073 the previous year, a 0.7 per cent drop.

Matiang’i called on education stakeholders to work together to improve the education standards in the country saying his Ministry is committed in offering the necessary support.
