Kenyan Native Signed By Melbourne City Soccer Club
Melbourne City have confirmed the signing of Kenyan born forward Bruce Kamau ahead of the 2016/17 season, according to Mfootball.
The emerging winger, who enjoyed a breakout season during the 2015/16 campaign, playing an important role in Adelaide Unitedโs Premiership and Championship-winning season, joins City on a two-year deal until the conclusion of the 2017/18 season.
An energetic contributor on the wing, Kamau scored three goals in 2015/16, including the winner in Round 20โs encounter over Melbourne Victory and providing Adelaide with the ascendancy in the 2016 A-League Grand Final with the opening goal.
Making his professional debut for the Reds in 2014, Kamau made a total of 29 appearances for Adelaide across two A-League seasons, including 18 matches in his second season with the South Australian club.
Having arrived in Australia from Kenya at the age of 4, Kamau commenced his youth career in Adelaide with local clubs N.A.B. SC (now Eastern United), Campbelltown City SC, Adelaide City and Adelaide Olympic, before being recruited into Adelaide Unitedโs National Youth League team in 2013.
A pacy,ย skillfulย and exciting forward, Melbourne City FC Head Coach John vanโt Schip said Kamau would inject energy and further depth into Cityโs forward line. โWeโre very happy to welcome Bruce into our squad for next season.
โHe is still young, has shown positive signs and he is a player we see as having great potential for further development with us.โ
Kamau will join his new teammates in June when City commence pre-season training at the City Football Academy ahead of the 2016/17 A-League season.
