BUSINESSWOMAN TAKES CORD TO COURT FOR BURNT MATATU
The owner of the matatu which was set ablaze during anti-IEBC protests and other business owners have moved to court seeking to stop Cord from holding further protests.
Agnes Macharia and Prime City Transporters Sacco have sued Cord leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula.
They also want the Cord Principals compelled to compensate Ms Macharia besides an order being issued stopping them from holding further demonstrations.
They claimed that her matatu driver and conductor were also beaten up by Cord supporter during the June 6 demonstrations in Nairobi.
COUNTER-DEMO
They argued that there is need to ensure security of their property as well as lives hence the need for the demonstrations to be permanently halted.
On Wednesday, matatu operators held a counter-demo on the streets of Nairobi to protest the burning of the Kayole matatu and destruction of other property during the anti-IEBC demonstrations by Cord followers.
The demonstrators marched to President Uhuru Kenyattaโs Harambee House office where they handed over a petition before proceeding to Mr Odingaโs Upper Hill office where they damped the shell of the burnt up matatu.
