Flamboyant lawyer Donald Kipkorir has stirred an online squabble after he was spotted at a private meeting with former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru on Friday night.
Mr Kipkorir, who is Deputy President William Ruto’s ally, uploaded photos of Ms Waiguru’s meeting where she had invited close friends to present her vision for Kirinyanga County ahead of the 2017 General Election.
“Tonite, Her Excellency Anne Waiguru invited me to join a small select group of friends to present her vision of Kirinyaga County. Am humbled to call her my friend, Kipkorir stated.
The wealthy lawyer also took time to defend Waiguru who has been widely mentioned in the Sh791 Million National Youth Service (NYS) that marred the Devolution ministry when she was in office.
Kipkorir admitted that he was among Kenyans who had criticised Waiguru over the mega-scandal without knowing her, highlighting that after his encounter with the former CS he had a change of heart.
“For long, I behaved to her, like those Pharisees who brought that woman to Jesus accusing her of prostitution without bringing the men she slept with. In life, we all enjoy accusing without evidence, but the truth sets all free.”
“After getting to know Anne, I walked away from the mob that wants to stone her,” he added.
Kipkorir sentiments attracted an array of reactions with a section expressing their dismay in the lawyer’s sudden turn around despite having previously condemned her.
Some opined that he was eating from the same table with thieves while others indicated that he was aligning himself with individuals who had power for his own benefit.
