Pioneer corporate leader and one of Kenya’s most decorated blue chip companies managers Bethuel Mareka Gecaga was laid to rest at a private function in his Yadini Coffee Estate, Kiambu County today. Gecaga served in boards of some of the prominent local and international companies.

About BM Gecaga
Bethuel Mareka (BM) Gecaga was born in 1924, likely in British East Africa (now Kenya). He was the son of John Mareka Gecaga, teacher and politician, and Mary Waruguru.
He graduated from Makerere University and Middle Temple College in 1956 with honours in law. He worked in the government immediately on independence in 1963, serving in positions including barrister-at-law, Registrar General, Ministry of Legal Affairs, and Director of East African Tobacco Company. He was General Manager and Chbairman of BAT Kenya for 28 years, and involved with other large corporations. He was also Chairman of the University of Nairobi.
Bethuel Gecaga married Jemimah Njoroge.
In 1956, Bethuel M Gecaga and Jemimah T Gecaga were living in Fulham, London, England.
They had two children, Udi Gecaga and Noni “Mary” Gecaga.
Jemimah Gecaga died in 1979. Bethuel may have subsequently married Margaret.
Betheul died on 15 Dec 2016.
