President Uhuru Kenyatta has come to the rescue of a taxi driver whose car was damaged during clashes between police and NASA supporters.
The driver was filmed in distress inside his car in the aftermath of NASA’s welcoming parade which turned violent. The video went viral with Kenyans asking the president to take action.
In the video, the car’s side mirror had been removed and the window to the right back seat was damaged.

Kenyatta seems to have empathized with the driver and has settled the car’s outstanding loan. An unnamed individual has also paid for the car’s damage.
The taxi driver, identified as Abel Nyakundi, received the cash to fix the vehicle personally from Interior permanent secretary, Karanja Kibicho. “Asanti kwa rais Uhuru Kenyatta amenisaidia kuclear loan ya gari yangu, nashukuru sana.” Said Mr Nyakundi.
Mr Nyakundi was caught in the middle of confrontation between police officers and protesters during the welcome procession for Raila Odinga organized by NASA.
