Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, alias Jalang’o, has pleaded with US Ambassador Meg Whitman after a comedian suffering from endometriosis was denied a visa.
According to the MP, Sylvia Savai, known as Senjee, was set to travel to the US for treatment.
However, she was informed that her visa application was declined on the morning of Wednesday, June 5.
Jalang’o added that the comedian had been raising funds to facilitate the treatment, highlighting the need for the ambassador to intervene in the matter.
The MP added that the treatment would be timely for the comedian given that anti-endometriosis warrior Jahmby Koikaiย succumbed to the disease on Tuesday.
“Ambassador, we have raised little money for her treatment, all she needs is a visa to America for treatment!
“This morning she has been denied a visa! Kindly let your good office help! We just lost an endo warrior yesterday! Kindly hear her cry!” Jalang’o stated.
Senjee had earlierย appealed for Kenyans to help raise Ksh 12 millionย for the treatment in the US.
“She’s battling a condition known as endometriosis which is causing her to paralyse on the right side of her body every month during her menses, that has caused some of her organs to fail, she has to undergo two surgeries.
“She is in need of specialised treatment in the u.s which is supposed to take place in June 2024. The treatment estimation is Ksh12 million and Senjee needs your help,” read the poster in part.
At the time of publication, the ambassador and the US embassy had yet to respond to the plea.
Reasons as toย why the visa application was deniedย are also yet to be known.
