Stella Tenai’s journey to pursuing a Master of Science in Finance at the University of Kentucky began long before her application process. During her undergraduate studies at Machakos University, she often spoke about her dream of one day studying in the United States. Her long-term goal was to become a lecturer. She saw studying in the U.S. as a clear pathway toward achieving that vision.
Her introduction to the International Scholars Program came through a referral within her network. From the start, the experience was defined by guidance and support. Whenever she faced uncertainty, she sought help. She received directions. These kept her moving forward with confidence.
Her visa interview experience marked a significant milestone in her journey. She approached it with preparation and composure. She navigated the process smoothly and secured her approval. However, the path was not without setbacks. After she initially missed out on an earlier intake, she felt discouraged. Even so, the encouragement from her family helped her remain patient and focused. She later secured another opportunity and successfully moved forward.
As she prepared for departure, Stella looked ahead with excitement. She embraced the opportunity to experience a new environment, build meaningful connections, and grow academically and personally.
Her journey reflects resilience, faith, and intentional preparation. She emphasized the importance of practice and confidence, especially during the visa process. She encouraged others to take it seriously and prepare thoroughly.
Stella’s story stands as a testament that with persistence, support, and belief, a long-held dream can become reality.
